Milan 1976

In 1976, Albini completely restructured his apartment in Milan, furnishing it in high-tech style. In November 1977, the new home was featured in Isa Vercelloni’s photo shoot in Casa Vogue, called “Grigio come libertà” (Grey as freedom).

Grey is space, the void, a possibility into which anything can be inserted

Walter Albini

When in 1976 he designed  a collection of working clothes with urban guerrilla overtones for Trell, the house took on the same references in its outlook: high-tech metal furniture, grey tones obtained with industrial paint and rubber sheeting curtains. This was an urban technology house. It was also a container house which was  always furnished differently and in a transitory manner. It had a sort of absence of style which preceded the inclusion of everything post-modern at once.

He anticipated  the technological style in furnishings.
